You’d enjoy SF more than FC. You’re looking at $2200 starting price for a studio/1bedroom in a decent neighborhood without roommate.
You can have parking as well in SF. It just comes with a price. It could be worth it if you're willing to forego other luxuries. On the other hand, Foster City is a great place too, but mostly families live there. An alternative is San Mateo, which is close to FC and is the second biggest city in the county.
The fact that you are 27 and single makes this a non brainer! RC is rather boring.
This is a no brainer. San Francisco. Foster City is a suburb like any other.
If you wanna live in SF, then work in SF. Otherwise, choose the foster city office and you get a lot of good options for a driving commute. Rent will be similar. Without a roommate you I would guess 2500 - 3000 as a ballpark for a 1bd.
Which firm? Just curious to know who has offices in both SF & FC. I'd personally prefer to work in FC and stay anywhere closeby like San Mateo, Belmont or San Bruno. Or maybe even stretch it a bit and stay in Redwood City. These are great neighborhoods(albeit a bit $$) .
SF is great to visit and spend time in, but the size of housing vs cost just doesn't seem to break even. Also in most places you'd have to 0ay extra for parking whereas the FC vicinity locations mostly have parking inclusive rentals.
hmu, I just moved here to SF from NYC
