I’m gonna be honest if you don’t wanna spend Manhattan levels of prices for an apartment I wouldn’t recommend living Downtown… personally if I was you id live in another part of miami (little Haiti, Hialeah, north miami, etc) or like Hallandale/hollywood and commute if pricing is a big factor
Okay so no FT.Lauderdale is what I'm getting! Thanks for all your responses!!
I grew up in Miami so I know the area very well.
It depends on what kind of lifestyle you are looking for. Are you looking to be close to the office / most of the bars and restaurants / more single professionals? Then downtown or Brickell could be the top choice but you will pay premium prices. Now if you’re okay with commute, slower living and more family oriented neighborhoods then I’d go up north (which is where I am living right now), I like it because I don’t want to be in craziness of it all and plus, I like being closer to the beach.
I would consider one major thing though, in the last three years the traffic has gotten horrible…. So if you’re considering moving to north Miami / Hollywood area, you should know now that it’ll take you an hour or even longer to get to downtown.
Coral Gables is nice too & Coconut Grove. Where is the office located? Downtown? You could live in Dadeland and jump on the train everyday.
I also agree with Khameron - lately Miami prices are matching NYC prices.
If you want to be in a building that has a gym/pool in downtown / Brickell, you could easily be paying around 2.4/3k.
Also, I don’t know if you have a car but you can’t get around Miami without one.
I am bringing my car with me for sure! And yes, these prices sound crazy. Thanks for this info, you all. I'm really moving my considerations outside of downtown.
1br 1bath
2k pompano
3k brickell
4k South beach
4k Sunny Isles
Following! I’m on a similar boat. Moving in the next ~3months
Good luck to you as well!
Also you probably don’t want to live here. 1. Its very congested and not really pleasant to walk around at night. This goes back to my original question of what kind of lifestyle you are looking for.
Thanks for the picture! I am totally fine with a slower, walkable neighborhood. I'm actually not a huge fan of any downtown but I thought maybe this should be my first try. The prices are deterring me though.
Regardless of where you live, it's still cheaper than Manhattan. $1800 for a nice 1br in a nice neighborhood is very real right now, and you can't find anything close in Manhattan or even the rest of NYC in any season
Please let me know where in Downtown you can find a 1b for $1800
CoL is somewhat close the NYC, but mostly because of the lower salaries. While I agree prices are crazy, for 2.3/2.5 you get a 1bd with great amenities in a nice area. That gets you *nothing* in NYC.
highkey you’re probably not gonna get something cheaper than like 1.8k for a one bedroom and that’s wishful thinking …. most average out to over $2.5k for a one bedroom/studio
Wow that's insane!! 2.5K for a studio? Yeah, pass.
My spouse and I live in one of the buildings in your picture and love it. Easy to get to Brickell, the grove, wynwood, or Miami Beach. Water views. Lots of new really good restaurants and bars opening in the area. Our condo is modern and spacious and our building has great amenities.
We own so we’re happy we invested in the neighborhood but our neighbors who rent are happy as well.
Yes traffic is horrible when there are events at the arena or park. Yes it can be sketch in the more westward areas of downtown but the area you’re showing is fine and the pros far outweigh the costs.
This is really good info to have! Thank you
Brickell buildings are nice in amenities, but I don’t like the vibe that much. Would prefer coconut grove or south of fifth.
Brickell is cool to go to bars, restaurants, not to live. The atmosphere was just not there for what I like in a residential neighborhood. I recommend walking around, you will get a sense if you will like or not.
Demographics will be very different too. Brickell skews more temporary people, so less of a community feeling, even for Miami standards.
In your case as your office will be in downtown, might make more sense live dt/brickell even if you like other areas more. Commuting would be a huge drag on quality of life
For a young and single person- it will make sense.
I hate commuting, so I’d say stay near downtown even if it’s more expensive. Sleep is so valuable for me. 😂
move to North Beach, there is an apt in my unit for rent now like 3 blocks from the beach we pay 1800
Stop the gentrification our area…Those new “affordable” buildings are messing up with the old folks/families around here
