I used to take evening French classes. I met a lot of interesting people. I found these classes allowed me to escape mentally from work.
Now that I have a good basic understanding of French, I attend Meetups to practice speaking it. I’ve met some really amazing people.
I found a great happy hour group near me. Super diverse group of people. Some of them I really like. Some of them less so, but we still chat about weather, politics, the sidewalk, our dogs and kids. We play scrabble sometimes.
I probably go 3-4 times a week for about an hour or 2. I do the monthly book club and the weekly trivia too.
The important thing is that these are just constant, low stakes relationships. I think it is really important to have things in your life that aren't about learning/improving/strengthening etc. It's just about being part of a community. It's really great and has helped me find balance in my life. Also, weed seltzers are amazing substitutes for booze.
I’ve been feeling the same way lately, and I’ve been thinking about signing up for a local cooking class to give my nights a little more structure and something to look forward to.

Also, get a dog that likes to go to the dog park. You'll find a group of people that you like, some you don't, and some you just nod "hello" to every day. The important thing is that this is a low stakes daily activity that isn't about betterment, leveling up your skills, etc. This is just about being among other beings.

Nice. I’m a dog mom. My second dog. Not sure I get fulfillment by going to the dog park. Company yes.

I’m part of the junior league in NYC. I joined when I was in between freelance gigs. This helped tremendously with meeting new people who also like to volunteer & have social events. I’m also the Vice Chair of the home design committee. We just attended a wine tasting & vineyard. I also re signed up for tennis lessons on the weekends. That’s the key working remote you have to be careful to not get in a rut. Make yourself socialize which is natural. If you were going into an office.
I take dance classes, improv (classes and jams), go to concerts/shows (almost every Thursday there’s a weekly show I go to and get to see friends that go every week and dance for 4 hours, it’s great.) on days where I don’t have something scheduled I tend to just laze about at home, left to my own devices I am not productive, so I make myself go be with groups and learn new things if I’m not just having fun. I also will go on hikes if I get off work well before sunset since there’s so many trails near me
