My boss pulled me into his office the other day. Said he was worried about my future because everything I do will soon be done by AI, and I needed to start making some long term plans. So...what am I supposed to do with that?

Take them at their word and be grateful to them for doing you a solid. As much as it's not what you want to hear, it's better having some heads up than getting blindsided. I'd get my resume polished up and start applying to everything you can.

They also said that about outsourcing, didn't they? And that never happened. I think artificial intelligence can be a tool to do our jobs, but won't necessarily completely overtake us. Think about it: AI can give you ideas about how to plan a trip, but it could never do the work of booking the tickets, getting the hotels, coordinating rides, drafting itineraries, and then double-checking its own work. There are still a lot of things we need to do that artificial intelligence isn't even close to doing.

AGREED

I'd love to know how AI will be able to order catering and after hour events for our executives!

Anyone know of a good building for a 1bed/1bath. Need to have parking & a/c. Nice to haves is in-unit laundry, any include utilities, any amenities. Trying to keep it on the cheaper end with a max rent of 1,500, but given our line of work I can bump that up if the place is nice enough to justify the cost. Thanks in advance!

I lateraled into a niche practice group in Sept 2021. I also have a 1 year old and have been mostly remote since I started - but have been keeping busy tracking towards 2400-2500 hours. That said getting to know people only remote has been kind of awkward at times (email only can be tough to decipher) although as a working mom the pros vastly outweigh the cons. Yesterday my main partner asked me to come in Thursday bc he will be there and set a time to meet. Is this good/bad?? kind of nervous!

I work at a ‘free market’ firm and have developed a very good reputation among partners. Naturally, they are drowning me in work. Each time a new case comes up, the partner will email asking if I have “time and interest” in helping. When I’m at capacity, I take these words at face value and explain why I can’t do it, and that seems to work out ok with no hard feelings. But what’s the “interest” thing? If I don’t want to work on a toxic tort case, do I just say that and pass?

Bain is hiring for EA and MA roles in The US. If you’re serious about applying please reach out I’m happy to refer qualified candidates.

manager assistants are 100 percent remote while executive assistant roles are expected to be mapped to a local office. MAs support six senior managers or associate partners while EAs support 3 partners. MAs should have 1-3 years experience to apply and EAs should have 3-5 or more.

I’ve heard salaries have gone up quite a bit in the midst of the pandemic and I’m wondering if this is true for EAs as well. There’s a myriad of data online about EA salaries depending on age/experience but I’m interested in salaries from jobs accepted in 2020/2021 specifically!

Please feel free to share:

- Your salary from any job accepted in 2020/2021
- Any offers you may have received but rejected
- Your length of experience

Thank you!

EAs who manage people / have direct reports -- did your title change when you took on people management? What is your official title now?

(Context - trying to decide what title to recommend for EAs in our org who now manage people. Currently, we have multiple levels, but all EAs have the "Executive Assistant" title regardless of seniority / level / manager status.)
