Microsoft Received some feedback yesterday that I’m “Too smart for the role and they feared that I’d get bored and leave quickly. “ It’s honestly the most confused I’ve ever left a call. Does anyone know what this means? I thought it was a compliment initially but in retrospect it just doesn’t seem very genuine. Have y’all had anyone hit you with this one?
My resume got shortlisted for Operations Associate/Engineer-Amazon Managed Services role. I am an experienced AWS engineer with 5YOE.I feel like this role will be degrading in nature for me. Is it worth joining for this position. I would love to join Amazon based on my experience and skill set. But Not to some position which doesn't require AWS experience.

You should definitely ask for a raise if you're getting an increase in responsibilities. And you should ask for more than 3%, I think upwards of 10% is acceptable when you're getting a promotion and increase in your responsibilities, but do some research on the average wages for the role and your location.

The average is what’s shown on the picture. It’s not really an average. So I wasn’t sure how to interpret it. Thanks for your input.
If I was going to be offered a promotion to a Senior role, I would expect a raise to come with it.

Thank you for confirming.
You’ve been a BA for 15years? Honestly…I think it’s time for you to leave and find another job respectfully. That said…10-12% is good for now but I’d look to leveraging your experience and skills and see what else is out there.

3 years as a BA. I’ve been in a different role at the same company for 15 years. And yes I’ve been trying to look at other jobs and have been applying. No responses so far. Sad.
I agree with the comment above. You should already be making more than you are. I would leave unless they are going to give you a significant raise.

3 years as a BA. I really want at least $94k. That’s about 20%. I highly doubt I’ll get it though.
