He graduated with honors, but doesn’t have a job locked in yet? Seems fishy. Is there a reason he doesn’t ?

I currently work as a personal injury lawyer at a small law firm, 5 years experience, graduated from T30 law school in 2015. Our subject area is pretty niche, and I am looking to branch out. Not big law, but a different subject area, and hopefully something with a better work life balance (have a small child with hopes for more). Open to leaving the law for a compliance/HR/other type position. Am I even marketable for something like that? Am I being unrealistic?

I noted that people mentioned not to include your picture on resume to avoid any bias. But you still have to go for a face to face interview. If the hiring process is biased, then they will just reject you at the stage when they get a chance to see you in person. Thoughts?

I was hired as a client service associate, and had to get the SIE and S7 certifications to secure my employment, been here for a year now and really want to be part of the business aspect. Any tips for building a client base from scratch? I’m a 4th year associate at a firm of 12 attorneys. Associates are not referred business, even cold calls, and so far “networking” events like Chamber of Commerce luncheons have been a bust. I equate a book to autonomy and career choice and pressure is on.

I need advice on when I am, and am not, permitted to buy publicly traded stock shares in which (A) the company is a firm client and (B) I did work for the company. In both scenarios, I lack material nonpublic information about the company; however, I also don’t want to risk the SEC asking questions. Is a 6 month or year-long cooling off period a good rule of thumb? Say after the IPO and doing zero work for the company? The trade would be under $10,000. Any advice would be appreciated. TIA.
