My company strongly encourages us to use copilot for coding.

I have two “vibe coders” in my team.
Sometimes they do funny things (like writing a separate java class with getters for two constants, complete with a test class - all AI generated and absolute BS), but most days, it’s taking a toll on the rest of us.

The most annoying part is that the management praises the “creative duo” while we struggle, trying to put out their fires and keep the code quality decent.

Yes, it takes a toll, it's annoying, it's frustrating to have coworkers who don't automatically know what to do in all situations. The issue here is your attitude. These are people on your team who you will spend more time with than your family. This is an opportunity to train, help, and mentor others, not to be frustrated that everyone isn't as experienced as you.

The problem start with you saying they are going to spend there more time with their family
I guess as someone who hasn't one, it is easy. Keep it up and you will never have.

Set up an AI code review in your source control, so that these changes get filtered through AI first before they get to you. The "vibe-coders" will only learn if you teach them.

Only way the management will find out when big hack will happen and your company be in court for million dollar lawsuit

Remember way back in the old days, when we were held to actual coding standards?

Are you a senior level developer? Vibe coding is here and it is not going away. AI slop is also real, and not going away.

As a senior you should help direct the vibe coders to in system, software and architecture design. We use Claude for our AI development, we build skills, we build prompts that works for us. Direct the AI like it is a JR developer, and your code will be clean, readable, maintainable, and fun to work with.

C suite loves outcomes, they do not care if a class is badly written, repetitive code - that is the reality. That is your job to direct AI and vibe coders to make “good” code.

If you fight it/them - you will lose.

The developer is the leadership of the AI developer.

On my team we are told vibe coding was last year. Now it's AI based editor full steam ahead. It creates so much garbage we have to sift through. The more we put rules and skills in place the better it gets but still some people use it to produce reviews without actually even think about what they produce. So much of it is noise. And then there is that more senior guy that vibe codes for months and builds flashy front ends on your hard back end work and gets all the praise while asked why aren't you working as fast as he does. Yet all your work is done with AI on time and reviewed for junk because you know your area.

I am here to give you all a darker conspiracy theory…

when company encourages employees to use AI/LLM to do their work, they are actually asking you to train the AI/LLM to do your work… and you can guess what’s their ultimate intention in long run.

Yet, sadly, you can’t go against that, as long as you are still being employed by them. Heck, many top companies even rate your performance based your usage of AI/LLM.

The worst part is, the gov around the world are sleeping on this, and there is no laws in protecting us…

If you don't want laziness to be rewarded, stop catching their errors for them in code review. If the backlog explodes and the blames are consistently coming back to your AI duo then they'll start catching shit instead of praise and maybe your management will start considering the consequences a little more. With you putting out the fires preemptively you are just making it look like AI code generation is the right answer.

Sources of conflict: Role based -- finance thinks marketing's budget is too big; think checks and balances. Information based -- different people operate on different assumptions; think "best efforts given what they know". Personal conflict -- people just don't get along; think basic personality differences. I think you are squarely in #2 -- management simply does not know what coding entails, and their knowledge base is what the AI salesperson told them.

1. Learn about AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md or whatever copilot uses

2. Copilot is not very good at all compared to codex/claude, it loves to completely trash code that it shouldn’t even be touching

3. Do proper PR’s/code reviews

I’m seeing lots of posts about really bad losses. If you trade you’re going to lose money - hopefully not all the time, but many positions will be mistakes. But you need a process to find ideas and manage positions. Two books you should read are “The New Trading for a Livinng” and “The Laws of Trading.” Both look at psychology, process, and risk in different ways that can help you work out your own process. The next 18 months will be much harder than the last 18 - time to start learning.
