I was promoted to VP at a lower salary in 2020, then gradually risen to SVP and then felt a blow having to go to avoid after my layoff last year. I can’t help but feeling like this is another step down, though there is a hope the new role will be better work/ life balance. What would you do?
I’m I a similar spot. I was a CD for many years, laid off during the pandemic, took a VP, ACD role and a $30K pay cut because COBRA was killing me. I’m still quietly applying for more senior leadership roles, but I’ve noticed salaries have been dropping across the board. Someone just offered me a lateral role that would have dropped my salary even more. I told the in-house recruiter I couldn’t afford to take it.
