My current sales role isn’t going anywhere, and I’m not sure what to do next. I like sales, but I also like strategy, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to blend the two. I had a job interview for a role that I really want. The hiring manager scheduled me for an interview and did not show up. Emailed me an hour later stating that he got super busy and couldn’t attend, and would like to reschedule. I left my job about a year ago to relocate, make sure it was the right decision and start a side business in the mean time. Now I’m actively looking for a new sales position, have tons of experience, but am struggling to even get a response from job apps. I am wondering if this is because of my employment gap? I don’t have my side business listed on my resume because I don’t feel like I have enough positive “stats” to report yet given it’s new. Any advice or recommendations?

Has anybody approached the job search process by rounding up a list of dream companies rather than certain roles? Would love to hear some input.
