My firm emphasizes "rainmaking" way more than quality legal work. Is this a sign I should start looking elsewhere?

Making it rain doesn't mean you need to do shit work too. It sounds more like you can't make it rain so you're going to run before you get fired. Otherwise who cares if they "emphasize" quality legal work, you should be doing that anyway.

It’s probably easier to make it rain when you have a reputation for quality legal work (with good results). Your reputation as a professional is one thing, the firm’s reputation is something else. If you believe that your reputation as a professional is in some way tarnished by your association to that particular firm (e.g., if the firm is known to do shady shit), then that may be a good reason to go somewhere else.

I currently work at a small PI firm in Atlanta were EVERYTHING is settled presuit. If we’re unable to settle, then it’s referred to another firm for litigation. This whole process seems very atypical to me and the attorneys rarely touch a file until the first liability offer is received. The paralegals handle everything from intake to drafting the demands. The attorney briefly skims (does NOT read) the demand packages and signs. Is this ethical?? Anyone else work at a firm that is run this way??

I also take the driver seat for the grunt work on the firms bigger cases which are at or near 7 figure value. I constantly feel (cont.)

What’s a good LA or NY business litigation firm and salary to expect? I’m a 2yr with quite frankly a lot of experience across civ rights, PI, excessive force, wrongful death, employment defense, K dispute, corp. structure dispute, professional licensure. Write every kind of brief, appeals, argue motions, take depos. Am the only associate working directly under partner on all cases. In house or M&A/Real Estate Transactional are likely the end goal but want to get the litigation out of me first.
