EY PCS, EY partner of the firm where you prepare the personal tax returns of the EY partners or PAS for globally mobile employees 1040 and 1040 NR for international assignments. All big 4 have these 3 groups. Why not look I to the PwC partner of the firm program?
I am in the POF group at EY. Since the work is the data of the partnere, if your not in one of the 3 locations where we have a secure office in an office /your new office is your home office. So as long as I stay in this roll I will WFH.
EY has a high net worth practice

I was in PFS at PwC. I can understand what HR means by “decentralized.” I freakin’ loved my team though. I moved & transferred out of PFS and was miserable with my new group, so I recently left and joined a smaller CPA firm (tax only, mainly high net worth individual tax compliance & real estate partnerships). I’m loving it and this firm still has pretty good benefits for being 50+ people (founding partner is ex-Arthur Andersen)
Yup. Also was at a local firm with a very chill culture and great group of people. Can’t underestimate the small firms. There are hidden gems.
I moved from pwc PFS to RSM in Houston. We call it PCS but it is the same as PFS. It is a largest PFS type practice I could find in the country in one location. We have made five new partners in the last five years. RSM is the fifth largest accounting firm in the US and very competitive in pay and benefits to the big four. We are hiring at all levels.
Did you like PFS at PwC?
I am in PFS and I have worked for two offices. I love the people, it’s the best team I have worked for in my career.
We are decentralized for sure but it kind of gives us our own personality. I would say the one thing to watch out for is how it gets split with PCS. If the PFS/PCS group is larger than 20 people and they try and split the work between everyone, it’s the last place you ever want to start. Otherwise find and talk to the PFS directors in your office and get to know them. They can put in a good word for you and they will also be good representatives of the kind of culture you would encounter. If you feel ballsy then I guess talk to the partners too.
Crap...you can’t just walk in offices anymore though, huh...
GMS- the new name for IAS. They do 1040s for PwC clients.
Haha you’re funny. You must not work on the best coast.
KPMG needs family office/high net worth individuals!
I agree with pwc5. I was at PwC in IAS and went to EY PAS..same group diff name diff firm. Exit options are limited and the leverage to the GDS. Keeps increasing.
If you want to do 1040s you would probably be much better off in a smaller local CPA firm.
Yeah I know, I just love big 4 benefits too much.
We do individuals in GMS. Not sure why HR would be discouraging you from moving around, but there’s plenty of work in our group.
Just want to echo that 1040 work is extremely limiting. It’s largely being sent over to India or Buenos Aires. I’m starting my 3rd senior year and no longer work on the returns, I’m just managing the global coordination efforts and being the main client point of contact for daily concerns
