Worked in both (now in London). Definitely a win move, London is much cheaper.
Rent I would say 80% more expensive in Manhattan than Central London.
Grocery is double in NYC than in London.
Restaurant/clubbing is 20% more expensive in London than NYC.
Healthcare is free. Top private healthcare that covers 100% like AXA (deducted from salary) is $100 per month. Yes, just that.
You should expect mandatory ~25 off days and unlimited sick days, and at least 1 month notice period and 2 weeks severance.
Life insurance in case of your death, you should have much more in your London contract (I was at $200K in NYC, £1M in London).
Tax is the same at Associate level (~33%).
If you’re an Associate and you’re, I’m guessing, at $175K in NYC, in terms of life standards you will be flat in the £100K region.
