I think you might have something to learn about brevity. Maybe instead of focusing on what’s wrong about your company, focus on what you can learn and what you can fix.
Duh
I’d love it if someone spent that much time showing me how to review work the way they do. You’re seeing this as this massive inconvenience to you when you could just seize the opportunity to let this person show you what they know. Also, you can take this time to review their work given the errors you’ve found and make them look the hero.
The multiple million dollar mistakes you just need to keep a lot of for now and decide when is the right time to use that intel. Also do these mistakes cause any real negative impact on the business or is just poor management reporting?
On the poor professional behaviour I would just call that out professionally through the proper channels but make sure you give that person the chance to right their wrong first with a direct discussion.
On RTO you just gotta roll the dice on that one. Lots of companies making people return to the office.
In my career so far in big four you prepare a deliverable, send it to your manager who reviews it on their own time and sends it back with comments. Then you can schedule a meeting if needed and fix the issues.
He won’t review something unless there is a window for us to have a meeting for me to sit there while he reviews. So for example this week I prepared a routine deliverable on Monday for the month end close which wasn’t reviewed till late Thursday since there wasn’t time until then for him to have a meeting with me.
Luckily I wouldn’t say he’s that level of incompetent. But I don’t think he’s equipped to be the corporate controller of a company of our size that is on the ipo path. Based on his LinkedIn he’s mostly worked at smaller companies. And he is one of the few employees who’s been with the company since before PE took over. Say what you will about PE but they do usually hire competent acct/fin people from what I’ve seen. PE ops partner was my first round interview here.
