My head is constantly spinning trying to think about how to increase my salary. Do I try to get promoted, job hop, start a side hustle…and then what are the trade offs with leaving vs. staying. It all feels overwhelming. Anyone else relate?

Definitely can relate. If a promotion is within reach and has a good salary bump, that is the easiest path. Job hopping and working another job are options, but they come with a lot of uncertainty. Working on the side is a huge time sink, and I didn’t have much to show for it personally.

Write the pros & cons of both. Like pp if pro & amount is close its easier, but typically biggest pay bumps occur when you jump, if you can sell yourself well & know your value. Best of luck.

Got offered 68k after 2 years as a contractor (62.5k) doing project management/business admin in a tech department at a Fortune 500 bank. I have an A.S degree and working on my bachelor’s/masters may 2024. I negotiated to 84k NYC. I have seen interns get offered 38 per hour (79k) for internship positions with a similar role.

Thoughts? Should I go higher? I do my job well that’s why they decided to keep me as a contractor after my internship.
