I totally understand feeling stuck when you don’t see growth opportunities, but honestly? What you’re describing with your manager is gold. Having someone who genuinely supports you, gets excited about your work, and has real influence is incredibly rare in corporate America.
I’ve seen people leave great managers for “better opportunities” only to end up with bosses who don’t advocate for them, take credit for their work, or just don’t care. Office politics can be brutal, and a good manager is often your only protection.
Before making any moves, have you had a direct conversation with her about your growth concerns? She might have opportunities or ideas you’re not aware of. Sometimes managers don’t realize how important advancement is to someone when they’re happy with your current contributions.
I’m not saying never leave, but don’t underestimate what you have. People follow good leaders from company to company for a reason - they’re that valuable. The relationship you have with your manager often matters more than the specific role itself.
