I find it to be much more common and generally accepted. I empathize with your situation but I think, honestly, that you’ll just need to accept it.
My 2 cents
I'd say choose your battles :-/
Y'all I decided I'm not going to say anything lol though it definitely irks my soul. Outside of my personal beliefs, I think another reason is because I notice white people are very comfortable speaking with profanity in a professional environment when if it was a black person it would be perceived much more negatively. But it is what it is.
That’s extremely unprofessional in a work environment. If you were talking like that I’m sure they wouldn’t let it slide and you’d be straight in HR coached on professionalism. Definitely say something. I have done so in the past and my boss was extremely apologetic and it wasn’t an issue again luckily
Follow those advice at your own peril, OP
It’s definitely unprofessional I’d bring it up
What does religion have to do with cursing?
Anyway, as long as you obey the rules of your religion, then you’re good
Wow, I guess this bowl can be just as toxic as the white bowls
It didn’t take long at all for you to resort to ad hominem attack
Yuck
Figure out a way to cope with it or tactfully address it.
You are going to meet other potty mouths at any other future place of work and you can’t control others.
That’s right you can’t only control yourself
I would not bring my it up but if you know it bothers you, start planning your exit. In consulting dealings with the different personalities, is the hardest part. It could be worse, so many of my senior leaders are unethical and that makes me cringe!
I’d say something next thing you know they will be cursing at you. I’ve seen it happen
I agree with you so you don’t have to throw facts at me. In essence, you’re preaching to the choir.
however, I don’t see a world where an individual black woman will be the changemaker around this without suffering, some sort of professional penalty
This is why I’m suggesting if the person is using it in one on ones then find a way to diplomatically address it
In fact, if OP workplace is not aware of what you just posted, it tells me that they’re not evolved enough and their OP could be in danger for attempting to address it on a wider scale
Hell, it may be risky enough just to address it one on one diplomatically
