Any AI tools should be coming from above you. Look into it, maybe suggest something to leadership. But they can't just use whatever they want. It has to be company approved
Hmm, that is a good question. I definitely don't think it hurts to look into it because there are things that can be automated and make everyone's life easier. However, it is also possible that it is coming from a place of laziness. People are scared that AI will replace them, though, so it surprises me there are people asking for it.
I would look into it but i would probably wait to see what leadership is imagining
I’d see it as proactiveness, honestly. If they’re suggesting specific tools with a clear purpose, I’d take that as engagement rather than laziness.

Proactiveness — until proven otherwise.
A team asking for better tools is a team that cares about output. Laziness looks like silence and missed deadlines, not people researching solutions.
The workload concern is valid though. AI tools have a real adoption curve — there's a messy middle before efficiency gains kick in. If timing is critical, acknowledge the ask, table the implementation, and revisit when there's breathing room. Your team will respect the honesty more than a vague "we'll look into it."
The worst outcome: they stop bringing ideas because nothing ever moves.
