Go through the process and see what they have to offer?
Thanks BCG1: I intend to see what they have to say. Just wanted to get some anonymised responses first.
I think it's a great role. In many ways similar to a generalist PL at BCG, just with specific expertise & focusing just on a specific set of projects. People in this role definitely succeed at BCG. Most important question to ask is if you're excited about that specific topic.

I would think so. May not be partner track but great pay and better wlb
This is our non-equity track - you will focus on your area of expertise, generally better work life balance. Though you do have utilization metrics (no sales metrics). Since we don’t really have that in the generalist track it’s hard for me to comment on utilization
They will definitely let you do your niche, since it seems they are hiring you for that niche. If you’re in a good place, you should feel comfortable to ask about which Managing Director and Partners (MDPs) you would be working with and what type of work they are doing / want you to focus on. No harm there.
Lateral hire as an ECT PL can be a tough role. From what I’ve seen, many seem to struggle with a bit of culture shock and tough to get footing quickly. It’s also a unique role where you’re responsible for selling your expertise vs. being staffed as a generalist. Would recommend talking to a few people on the ECT track to help.
