Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies.Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python.It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Shitty managers happen OP but beautiful thing about consulting is that if you really dislike someone you can make sure you never work with them again...
Ask the partene or SM if they are happy with the deck. Tell them you wanted to make sure because so and so got you on a call about an arrow being misaligned. Act like you think this is a little odd, but you're a team player and you want to do well. You really care, etc. They're response will be the same as here. WTF.
Not normal. Also, for you, not even worth getting worked up about. Just apologize and move on. I never let stuff like that bother me. Apologize while thinking in your head "go f yourself you dumb mfer".

That's why I spend 4 hours combing through each slide at over 9000% zoom.
He grilled me for this.....you couldn't even tell the arrow was off when viewed in presentation mode.

A1 - nope and apparently I have a bad eye for detail because this arrow was "so off." Apparently this made my document not client ready and I have a bad eye for detail. I've never felt dumb over something so insignificant. .
If I was overseeing OP's manager I would find another manager. I'll take OPs skill before someone who blows up a ppt to 300% to inspect it. What a waste of time.

I doubt you could tell the arrow was off even when printed. I'm going to print the deck out tomorrow and if you can't tell I'm gonna be even more upset. I have so many skills to offer and yet I feel so stupid over something so small.
Call seems extreme, but I would have caught the same thing and would have been annoyed. That said, OP, ask some other folks to help. PowerPoint these days has lots of tools that it takes very little time to get this right on the first try. Worked with someone who needed help and by the end she was a rock star - started out also not feeling totally comfortable in PowerPoint. And yes, I've had PPDs catch these things too.
Uhhh Manager has some issues. I'd be sure to do some skip level convos and casually bring up situation to seek "counsel about difficult situations". This is ridiculous, unless manager had other real issues with your performance.

Yea. Align and also watch for the red spacing indicators to tell you if things are spaced the same way. Also check borders - those are a big issue. Once you get good the small stuff will annoy you too :)
I have been a client and if I knew my contract dollars were going to this kind of crap I would have a fit. The value is in the content. I am an old 🐟 but I think if this happens to me I might just walk out the door. Op-that is not good advice for young🐠. The better advice is to remember that you have a ton of skills that are valuable everywhere and an "arrow" does not define you.
I have seen the quality of decks at EY on many occasions and sorry but generally speaking, it sucks.
