None that I’m not paid for. All extra duties and responsibilities are paid. Of course I only get 25 minutes for lunch.
Call your union president. Our district or individual principals would do this .
After involving the union, teachers get paid for and lunch /recess duty. Bus helpers before and after school, etc. The money ppl make on lunch and recess alone boosts retirement pay to higher rate. Note that now are ppl are paid, they seldom have problems with coverage
Might be worth a call
But they shouldn't make you work on your lunch if you don't want it. I know that a few get paid for lunch detention for 15 minutes in my district.
None. We generally get paid for anything that happens outside of contract hours unless we truly volunteer for something.
Some teachers run clubs during lunch and sometimes have events in the evenings, but it's completely up to them.
You need your Union to stop all of that garbage!!!
We don't have to do anything outside of normal school hours. They do, however, ask for volunteer chaperones for prom. All other positions--lunch, tutoring, etc. are paid positions (stipends). I have been stuck a couple of times with students, waiting for the person who's getting paid for lunch to show up.
We have a "Duty Free Lunch" that makes it a non-starter. I wish other teachers wouldn't do that, because there is an expectation we all should if you "are there for the kids." Nobody else is expected to work on their lunch. We have a limit on the number of supervision hours we are asked to sign up for (6). Outside of those 6 hours we are paid for things the District wants. Get your union on it and negotiate it.
Interior hallways monitor 2days per week. Both before and after school. It means being out of, and in hallways far from, my classroom.
While subbing during our plan block is paid, it is also mandatory. After-school tutoring is also paid, but required; we are paid if any students show up in our classroom, if no students show, then we can leave.
