Not many people take women seriously in this job, but they should. They also bring an interesting and valuable perspective into the military

In the army we are all equal, but women have a special ability to make decisions, I have had many superior women, and I love working with them, I must note that I am a man, and I see that women are more accurate and pragmatic.

I agree with you; women provide that side that we always lack, the intelligent side; whenever there are women on my team, I feel safe only because of them.

Are there any “best practices” as it relates to giving notice? Currently practicing in somewhat of a specialist group and lateraling to re-tool to a practice area I’m more interested in and also relocating to LA (where I’m from), so not necessarily competitive but I’ve been in this group for 3 years and have received very positive feedback on my work and built solid relationships/mentorships so curious if y’all have any pointers to avoid inadvertently “burning bridges” as they say…

Does anyone else compulsively calculate potential promotion and/or merit raises just to see what their new salary could be? I calculate a worst, mid, and best case scenarios regularly.

I am aware it is a super unhealthy habit of mine and that my estimates are likely way off anyways.

Just me? Ok cool.

Annual Raise coming up:

Current salary is X where X = $75k + an annual bonus that only applies if the company does well that year

Desired salary is Y where Y = a range from 80 - 89.999

Problem is I've been told that salary typically only gets raised 3% each year, without deviation.

To reach Y, I would need at least a 0.0667% increase or so.

Am I boned or.. ?

I remember the first time I held a gun in firing practice when I was a recruit. Like it was yesterday. Does anyone else have a super vivid memory like this?

Curious...what did you find to be the most challenging part of bootcamp?

When I was deployed, I always kept a picture of my girlfriend in my room. It gave me a reason to survive. Did anyone else bring a special memento during their deployment?

Be brave and enjoy the victories because they don't come as often. This line of work is the most mind-consuming if you don't celebrate yourself whenever you have the opportunity. What's your favorite way to a celebrate a victory?

I tend to feel so demoralized sometimes during deployment… does this happen to anyone else?

Don't ever forget you're still a human being, so treat yourself as one! What are some things you do to clear your mind?

I always loved medicine, so I exceeded on first aid training, but I'm scared of not being able to remember how to do everything correctly when in an emergency situation. I don't want to lose any of my buddies because I panic and don't remember how to treat a bullet wound. Do you really remember everything in this kind of life and death situation?
