Weather forecasts for 11 days out might as well be 11 years out.
I’d be more worried about delays as a high volume day plus the weather, once they have to de-ice planes it can all get backed up
Bingo, de iceing is super time consuming + ATC can get really backed up during the holiday
Meh, snow showers is fine. You must live in FL.
No way. You need a blizzard to ground flights. That forecast will probably change 100 times before Christmas.
Thanks. NC here so yea don’t get too much snow.
Do you actually think that anyone on fishbowl can answer this? Hahaha
Lolol I don’t disagree! If you look at aviation weather center.gov (and know how to interpret) it’s typically accurate for week of/3 days prior from departure. Outside that range, it’s anyone’s guess. But it typically won’t be snow that leads to a weather cancel, instead it’ll be thunderstorms (due lightening) or wind that’s really strong going at a right angle against the direction of the runway (can cause aircraft to pretty much fly sideways on takeoff/landing if a direct crosswind over the rwy is strong enough). Autopilot will allow an aircraft to land itself even in visibility that’s under 1 mile and clouds down to the ground
Snow should be fine so long as it doesn’t create crazy crosswinds or convective weather like thunderstorms (more typically during spring/summer)
Definitely should be fine, JFK is well equipped to handle this. Most that could happen is a delay in my opinion and even that would warrant multiple inches of snow.
Just make sure you have a direct flight and you'll be fine.
