Currently about to board a flight to HKG to complete mine. $500 out of pocket well worth the SWU and domestic upgrades/FC lounges and the flexibility with award travel.
You’re insane
Did mine last weekend! A day in Rome. Was fabulous 👌🏼
Dude no question you go for the 5k
Help explain to me how spending hundreds out of pocket is worth it to improve your mile multiplier for the following year. Anyone done the math?
A1, the mileage multiplier is the least significant part of that. It’s about being in a higher tier for upgrades and the 4 SWUs.
Yes but is it still worth it? Those upgrades are few and far between. It’s a trap!
I’m always able to use my SWUs on long-haul international flights. Those are absolutely worth a few hundred in out of pocket spend. Plus I’m around 75% for upgrades on domestic flights.
Was gonna end the year with 99 segments on delta. Found a round trip on basic economy under $100 for a relatively cheap segment run.
Curious. Is it worth it to go for a ~10k mileage run if it only gets me to PlatPro? As of now it looks like I’ll end up with just about 65k miles. Too many local, short haul, and Amtrak projects this year to do more than that. But flying out of a hub (PHL) has meant that I almost never get the upgrades as a Platinum, so wondering if the extra level might be worth it. Anyone else have experience as PlatPro?
I would not K2. PPro is hardly worth it esp if you’re seeing yourself so low on the upgrade list out of PHL. Still Group 3
Thought about it but was able to figure out enough business travel to get me to keep 1k. Requalifying on segments and am taking all connections both ways to get the extra few. For those expenses hawks, they are the same price or cheaper than the directs and I’m getting to the client and leaving no differently than on the directs.
My 5k short is with work travel up until Christmas Day. And D1, well played! I would do a dinner in Paris but I don’t need quite that many. I was told by AA that they would help along a nominal miss, any insight into how nominal is nominal?
Luckily I requalified for AA EP back in July... nowhere near the level of spend needed for CK though (currently $23k) so no suspense
When people “sell” SWUs (I know not technically allowed) how much do they usually go for?
