Cheers to the long Memorial Day weekend 🇺🇸🥃🙌🏼

Finally picked these up after a year in storage

Great way to spend a Friday night!

Scored these on one of my latest hunts.

Any recommendation for an everyday cognac ?

I don’t make them much at home but I’d argue you need the real deal. The brightness the orange oils add from an expressed peel are pretty important.
Grab an orange each week with your grocery shopping. It’ll last a few days once you’ve taken a peel off of it, and you can still use it.
Awesome idea, thanks! I realize how ridiculous it sounds but I imagine the $25 I spend on the atomizer and orange peel oil would last me years
We ensure oranges are bought on Friday's every week, so that I can have them for the weekend. I live a blessed life! 😊
If you live in a warm part of the country you might be lucky enough to have oranges on the tree year-round. Otherwise, just grab one or two each week when grocery shopping and use them as snacks too.
Or, what I enjoy, is tangerines. Much easier than keep fresh without wasting a full orange after taking some peel, and I like the flavor profile better.
Alternatively like you described, you can dry them or cure them in sugar for a candied effect. If you have a smoker that would impart some great flavors too.
One of a few reasons I just drink meat these days.
Lol, yes, certainly neat.
Use orange bitters
I use orange bitters only when I don’t have fresh oranges. It’s tastes just as good. Orange should just be a hint and not overpowering.
I prefer lemons in my old fashioneds, but I guess the question still applies. I do usually keep some lemons around.
Try Old Fashioned made by On The Rocks - it’s a ready made cocktail. Served it a party recently and it was well accepted. A good alternative solution.
