Once got flagged for an audio pop that didn’t exist on our side, only on the client’s stream. Turned out to be a glitch in their browser, but still, it caused a panic and a whole chain of reviews. I now do multiple playback tests in different browsers and environments before anything goes out. It adds time, but it saves so much stress.

Anyone else traumatized by QC comments that turned out not to be your fault?

Oh yeah, that would've scarred me forever for sure. Fortunately, I've never experienced this but I 100% can see how this can happen and I'm all about covering myself. I'd rather do 15 extra steps then lose sleep for days over something that couldn't been avoided (although being a glitch, idk that you could have avoided that anyway).

Exactly! Even if it wasn’t avoidable, I still feel better knowing I’ve done everything I can to catch issues early. The extra steps feel tedious sometimes, but the peace of mind is totally worth it. Better a few more clicks than a full-blown panic spiral later!

I’ve been traumatized by conflicting edit notes before. Classic too many chefs in the kitchen scenario and not a single one in agreement with the other. So not my fault but still my stress to deal with and try to fix. Very hard to figure out the right way when nobody else can figure it out.

Ugh yes, conflicting notes are the worst kind of stress—especially when you’re stuck trying to make everyone happy with no clear direction. It’s wild how we end up being the middlemen for decisions no one else can agree on. Totally feel your pain!

Once, I got flagged for a “click” noise in a podcast episode. We triple-checked our files and nothing there. Turns out the client’s streaming app was glitching and adding static only on their end. Since then, I always run the final audio through Chrome, Firefox, and even mobile apps before sending it off. That small extra step has saved me from frantic all-hands-on-deck moments more than once.

That’s such a smart move—testing across different platforms has definitely saved me too. It’s wild how many “issues” come down to playback quirks on the client’s end. Love that you’ve built that into your process—frantic fire drills are way less fun the second time around!

I saw this townhouse in a prime location in my city for $350k (cheap for the area). The floors are all messed up though but the buyer said they’ll either lower the house price or give a credit for closing cost. There’s also a lot of nicks here and there (some locks missing from door, dents, scratches, stains, and some things are loose). But overall, the house’s architecture and design is so beautiful. Would it be worth it to get it and fix it up? Or find a newer house with less maintenance?

Does anyone run a business in addition to their firm? I’m a solo and I’m doing pretty well with about 60-70 billable hours a month. Though that leaves a lot of downtime. Curious if anyone has any second businesses that require about 20 hours a week. Not looking for passive income or franchise ideas though.

Hi friends! I’m an ex-art director that recently stepped away after 5 years to try to pivot into production. I know it’s not the typical career route, but I think I’ll enjoy the work a lot more and be happier overall. I’m also trying to move to NYC from Austin. Does anyone have any tips for me to help me get my foot in the door? I’m an extremely hard worker, I’ve just been struggling to get convos started since I don’t really have a great NYC network. Thanks all!
