One of the best parts about working in Sped? Job security! My husband's industry (banking) is kind of wobbly right now and layoffs are happening everywhere. But I feel like my job as a Speech Therapist is ultra safe... like it would take a doomsday event for me to lose my job haha

How do you keep up/in touch with your network? Mine barely post anything on LinkedIn, so commenting on their posts is out of the question, and apparently it's impolite to just message or email them if the job searcher doesn't have anything to share besides asking for a referral or opening. If I don't have any relevant information to share with them, what should I do?

What cheat sheets do you all use for writing IEP goals? Is it from the district?

HELP! 30+ years of teaching Sped and I’m at a loss. 6th grade student in Middle School with Doose syndrome. Prior to MS, the elementary said he never caused problems. Since the 1st day, he is disruptive in class, refuses to work, and is disrespectful. He has a one-on-one para but she is in tears most days because of his behavior. Parents agreed with a behavior plan - he thinks it’s a game. Parents say he is not allowed to be this way at home.

What's everyone's experiences working with a board certified behavior analyst from the district?

I don’t know about you, but this year, I want to get better at having a work/life balance. I love having the time in the summer to do things around the house, but struggle when the school year starts.
