Paralegals working in probate and estate planning/trust admin - what’s your case load? I feel like I might be getting close to capacity. I’m currently staffed on 16 probate administration matters, and I collaborate closely with an attorney on all of their open matters, which hovers between 20-30 matters at any given point. How many matters are you staffed on? Wondering if I just need to keep finding ways to be more efficient in order to still take on new probate matters.

Currently 20 estates in various stages of administration from probate to IRS tax court, 40 trusts with regular administration and during tax season, 100 trusts requiring the filing of fiduciary income tax returns, just a couple of trusts with the preparation of annual schedules of account and add on transfer of assets for estate planning clients

20-30 sounds like a dream. I hover around 65-70 probate & guardianship cases (plus any random cases he decides to take including an eviction now *insert eyeroll*). I don't have time to actually communicate and build a relationship with clients if I'm being pushed to file new apps every week (every day most days).
Build automations, show clients a little more attention; don't take more clients if you already feel at capacity! I was at capacity and asked my atty if we can take a two week break from new client consults for me to catch up. He said no. Now I'm two weeks turnaround on docs/filings and he "doesn't want to slow down".
Appreciate what you have. Sounds like you got a good thing going right now.

I’m currently at a case load of 137 cases, mixed with regular probates and conservatorship, and contested matters.

Honestly! It’s so busy and not something you can juat work 4 hours a day and stay up on your case load. It’s so much fun though. I love the craziness.

How do you know when it is time to move on. I am the only litigation paralegal billing over 2,500 a year consistently. Love the boss I work the most for but that person has grown distant. Staff reviews were supposed to be complete this week and no one has mentioned mine. Underpaid by about $30k per market value. Torn and confused.

I work until 7p at least every night. Top 10 family law firm.

Are there any fully remote lawfirms, ie you don't have to live in the state they have offices? I recently left a large lawfirm to go in-house which came with a huge paycut that is not going to be sustainable long term, but needed a remote position to be able to move. I'd like to keep my current job part-time but get back in a lawfirm too.

I did it! I got an in-house Paralegal position after years of working and being burned out at different law firms. I was going to leave the legal field all together because I was so burned out and depressed, but I decided to give the field one more chance if I was able to go in-house. Prayerfully, this transition will be a good one.

Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? (Also I’m only 1.5yrs old in my career so I’m definitely still new, and I have previous experience as a project assistant).

I’m interviewing with another firm next week. Has anyone made a switch like that before? How did you do it? I work in a small criminal firm now. Interview is with a same size/practice area firm.

I started working for a new law firm, much larger than the firm I was working for previously. The main attorney that I work under had noticed some mistakes I was making (I am a NY paralegal who took this position with the understanding that they’d be teaching me NJ and NYC real estate). Anyways, the attorney decided to tell the HR manager about the mistakes I had been making. Rather than HR discussing with me, the manager told my dramatic coworker to tell me..how should I handle this? Very hurt!
