Yes but only if you approach it with the right attitude. I just made it this year and it’s actually been fun. The people who struggle seem to be the ones that force it early. Let nature take its course and go up when you’re really ready and if that means you take a lap or two then that’s fine. When you get there, just remember it’s 50% hard work and 50% luck and be grateful and enjoy it. No matter your situation in life a salary of $600-750k (seems to be normal-ish for most partners / MDs after a few years) is an incredibly good income and if you can do that with a good balance and a smile you’re more fortunate than 99.999999% of people who ever lived.
Wow
My bank account says yes, it is worth it still
That’s right. You start to really enjoy in years 6+ onward
It depends. For someone who came from a middle class background, had financial support from family, had lots of choices and options etc, the marginal benefit of being a Partner isn’t that great.
For a yokel like me, coming from a background of people with very little, earning a million bucks for what I do is unreal.
P4 what you’re saying is unreal for nearly all the middle class (assuming US). The marginal benefit for the middle class to a million dollar per year comp is also unreal.

I'm "with it". I'm a "hep cat". It is still "with it" to be a partner. You dig?

It was better in the good old days for sure. But absolutely still worth it if you can tolerate the stress/workload.
It’s no longer the rest and vest, dine and golf with client kind of job but we still get paid very well to do what we do.
I still feel there are a significant number of rest and vest minded partners at my firm.

It is worth it after Y3
Thank you D1
There are way easier ways to impress people if you did it for the “luster”.
