At what point is it considered optimal to make the jump from Big4 to FAANG? I've been a Tech Consultant at EY for a little under a year and, while I like the company very much, I do very little actual technical work. Experienced hire, Senior, 130k base. I'm very tempted to jump over to Amazon (despite their reputation for frugality). Do I attempt to make the switch now or wait until I get promoted to Manager?
What are good probable opportunities for TAS S&O-IT Manager with 10+ YOE? Can industry director level or higher FAANG (i.e. Amazon L7) is a realistic target or too much to bite?
Is FAANG recruiting really all that hyper-competitive at M7s? Friend said no-one was picked up at Netflix from Wharton last year🥺
Thoughts on “the social dilemma” on Netflix. Curious to hear from anyone working at FAANG that are actively working on predictive modeling for ads.
Has anyone else noticed that Google is the only FAANG company that seems to have employees on here? Are the rest of you all just hiding, or is W/L a myth at FAAN?
Anyone else go to a really competitive high school / college? I get constant Facebook / LinkedIn updates from folks that went to my alma mater and everyone is doing super well (now doctors, lawyers, FAANG engineers) , and makes me wonder where I went wrong. I recognize that I'm doing better than 90% of the country working at KPMG, but sometimes I wonder what could've been had I worked a bit harder back in college. I know we're all on our own path, but do any of you deal - con’t
Anyone have insight into FAANG R&D teams, eg Facebook Reality labs or equivalent? Considering exits from innovation consulting
Is there a hierarchy within FAANG of which companies pay more/less? Why isn’t Microsoft part of FAANG instead of Netflix?
My first call with FAANG. Have a phone screen with Netflix for their strategy and ops. What should I expect? Any tips on how to prepare?
Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!
Anyone know how product managers are positioned at Apple? I haven’t heard too much about PMs there compared to at other FAANG. Is it “true” product management, agile, or more like project managers?
Finally watched The Social Dilemma on Netflix. It didn’t say anything that we didn’t already know about social media and big tech, but it’s still alarming and worth the watch. The biggest question I have after watching is why do people still romanticize FAANG? Is just purely the money and prestige? Are we selling our soul for a highly regarded exit opportunity? Just curious.
First year (ug level hire) and got email from apple recruiter. Would love to exit to FAANG but not sure I'm ready to leave BCG in my first year but maybe after 2-4. What is best practice?
I want to share this golden AMA thread from a current Google PM with Top 7 MBA. Any fishes targeting PM roles at FAANG should see this.
Got a client solutions role at Facebook but also a strategy & product analytics opp at NYT. If strategy & product is end goal, is NYT a better choice? Scared to give up FAANG
Google recruiter invited me to apply for Finance Analyst role ~2 wks ago. I’m Marketing + IS background—not ideal fit but applied anyway (GOOG!). Rejected but now considering other FAANG opps. Advice?
Sanity check me here, 🐠 - Ideal exit is FAANG, Uber/Lyft, or tech Product Manager. Should I take an Amazon Program Manager offer or keep looking?
Put more money into the market. Fed will not raise rates in 3 years. No where we late to put sideline money now. More money will rush into money in the short term 12-36 months
I’m being let go. It came as a surprise because my time with the company I’ve gotten positive feedback. A couple of weeks ago my boss told me that I was being put on a 30 day performance review plan. The last 2 weeks I’ve gotten positive feedback about improvement but on Thursday my boss decided to cut the review plan short and give me an end date. Since I’ve been there <1 year I’m getting 2 weeks severance. Is there room for severance negotiation? A friend in HR (not ad) told me I should ask.
A reminder to all: we are going through very difficult times. Please help someone who has gotten laid off if you can!
S&O M with an offer for SM at competitor for 25% more base and large sign on. Worth having a comp conversation with D? I’m slightly left of middle of the MBA M band. New offer is at market for SM1.
What is the most cutthroat consulting firm out of the Big Four? I'm sure MBB are the most cutthroat but just Big Four
Some of these posts are ridiculous. They’re like just exited consulting to FAANG/Niche Startup with $150k base and $400k TC with 6 months of experience, you can do it too! Then they ghost or explain that they are a former SWE 😬 coming from MBB. Going to some super Niche role that people with crazy backgrounds are recruited for. Congrats, but not everyone has that background
Hello, I am a partner at one of the boutique retail (fashion&lifestyle) consulting organization and looking at growth opportunities in my career..Based on industry rankings on Retail, Strategy, Mgmt consulting; MBB's are the top cream followed by the BIG 4 along with Accenture + niche strategy consulting like Alix Partners .....I'd love to chat with partners in retail practice in any of the orgs if possible to get some guidance & direction...looking fwd to it
I have a Senior Analyst role in my team at Sabre in Southlake, TX. We have just adopted a work from anywhere policy. You must be based in the USA for employment law reasons. https://jobs.sabre.com/job/Southlake-Senior-Analyst-Strategy-&-Biz-Ops-TX-76092/674635400/?locale=en_US
Considering a change from Deloitte Canada to Slalom in US - any feedback from folks who’ve made similar changes, or advice on interviewing with Slalom?
Thoughts on whether Chicago st Patty’s this weekend will be any different with the covid situation?
Amex platinum: With COVID, has anyone recently gotten them to waive the annual fee? I plan to call soon as my anniversary is coming up in a few days
Feeling blah. Got an offer and turned it down (I wouldn’t have taken), and told this other company that I got an offer, which resulted in the recruiter speeding up my 2nd interview. After the interview, they said that they’d need another interview and to speak to my refs before going forward, and that if I have an offer, they don’t want me to hold me back from taking it. Mind’s kind of in a jumble after this long process. Thoughts from my fellow fish?
How do you approach asking senior managers/directors/partners about writing recommendation letters? I'm applying to law school in the fall and I need some. For what it's worth I'm a second year staff at a mid-size firm, have had good reviews the entire time/known as a high-performer in my office, and I've worked directly with everybody I'm planning on asking. However, none of them know that I'm planning on applying.
I have a PhD, but damn does an MBA not seem fun and useful for networking. Has anyone gone after PhD and a few years of consulting?
