Perhaps your request was equally unclear as your message here now. But, then, shame on your team for not clarifying your request.
How does finding it on google equate to finding it internally
OP - I commend you for having the balls/spine to post a pet peeve to FB where you will undoubtedly be slayed. Seriously, it is important for you to get the feedback for you to grow as a leader and no hard feelings.
You (and your peers) however, need to understand that you as leaders are 100% responsible for ensuring that everyone on your teams are receiving everything they need to be successful regardless of how petty you think it may be. And you are 100% responsible for the success of your team. And any failure is a direct reflection of your leadership.
This is not a personal attack, but an opportunity. You see, leadership is a skill that can be taught however, in the corporate world it is completely absent and not a skill that is developed. Instead, it is a misguided focus on $$$ which is in fact a byproduct of leadership (or lack thereof).
So, every-time you feel frustrated that your team is doing some dumb ass shit, ask yourself “what can I do to ensure that my team has everything the need to be successful”. In other words, lead.
👍🏼
Alternatively - let us simply be human, and once in a while bitch for a moment that while supporting our teams with all the leadership attributes that could be thought of, at the end of the day we are Owners, and sometimes the lack of initiative and need to be spoon fed (amongst a minority of employees thank goodness) is somewhat frustrating.
Used to give out a take home modeling test for calculating a budget variance in excel to fresh out of school PE analysts at the mid market boutique I worked last. I titled the fire “Budget Variance Excel” every year I picked the model that comes from the first google result when you typed that in. You’d be surprised how many people don’t use common sense.
My last associates biggest lesson from me was, "how much you steal from other work to save time."
A good Google trick is to type in what you're looking for followed by your firms name and PDF. It might not be in the knowledge base but someone might have put out a whitepaper on it.
K1 needs to learn that there is a difference between leadership and “being 100% responsible for ensuring that everyone on [our] teams are receiving everything they need to be successful...” That’s being a nursemaid, not a leader. Also, teaming, by its inherent nature, is designed so no one individual is “100% responsible” for the success of the team. K1, you have an amazing amount of maturing to do.
He/She is saying people are dumb and can’t think to look at other sources, such as the World Wide Web, to find examples. Common sense, they don’t teach that at any higher educational institution
It's also the rest of your firm that can't keep up with a marketplace of free solutions
I assume op has already tried the lmgtfy.com approach.
Agree with you Partner1. 100%. Also, keep in mind, however, it takes cajones (metaphorically) to take initiative for fear of doing the wrong thing. Hopefully, those without the cajones get weeded out.
KPMG. Yep. I say let me google that for you.
@ey1 that is why it is a pet peeve. And it isn't necessarily a question of understanding, but more likely a lack of willingness to develop IC that isn't already smiling at you and telling you that they will join you and present the ic to the client with you.
Ah, a convergence between two of the most enjoyable creatures of consulting: junior staff who need excessive spoon feeding, and absentee Partners who don't communicate clearly with their teams. May they get what they deserve from each other.

K1.
That post was so great the first time I read it,I did not realize it was just sarcasm.
If someone thinks leadership is handholding, we will have to agree to disagree.
Having said that, I have certainly Googled the answer to something I have had an associate say they can’t find an example to (and then launch into a complaint about our investment in intellectual capital and tools), and send them an example real time during the meeting where the issue came up.
Google is a powerful tool, clients know how to use it.
Consulting by google:) OP - you say team and not individual so I am guessing multiple people did not understand your ask here.
Absentee? Oh my - bitter much? ;)
