Like objectively or personally? I mean luxury watches are ridiculous when you look at them objectively. They do less than an apple watch can and cost from stupidly amounts of money to reckless amounts. But here we are. So, personally, I think if your doing this, it should be no more 7% if you’re take home. But it all depends on your regular expenses, savings needs, and goofiness.
Completely depends on your passion and net worth. If you are an extremely high net worth individual then a 100k+ watch is reasonable. For me, I think $15k is the most I’d ever spend on a watch (and I have no plans to even spend that much on the near future).

It’s whatever amount the wife will agree to.

Collection shouldn’t be more than 10% of your net worth
Yeah agreed on around 2-5% of NW
One Rolex, one Omega and one Tudor puts my collection at about 2% (actually a bit less)

Time is priceless… you can’t put a price on it
Funny thing, though—time still goes on without a $25k watch on your wrist.
For me, too much is if I have to make a choice between buying a watch vs something else, and if I actually needed to save up to get it.
This one is on the house, it’s my Xmas present.
I waited until my house was paid off and I had enough saved for my children’s college. After that $10K seemed reasonable but I actually spent $8K.

You’re asking the wrong crew. I’m on a watch discord and some will spend upwards of 10% of their income while pulling down half a mil 🤣

Which watch discord are you a member of?
More than you have
Philosophically, I think any watch over 50k is kind of a waste. At that point, you’re just showing people what you can buy and not what was smart. And then think about service costs, good lord. Anyway, good luck.
I don’t see myself ever spending more than 20k - symbolically to me that’s the boundary between « watch/ gadgets » and « car » budgets
