I just went to a Sunday wedding and I’m absolutely beat as I had to work today. Friday sounds wonderful, as people are traveling they’ll take a few days off and will have enough time to relax and see what DC has to offer. Go for it! (But please whatever you do, don’t pick a Sunday 😅)
CONS: if you’re wedding is on Friday and guests are out of state, they may need two days of PTO for travel and the day of. Some people guard PTO like precious gems and may not be a fan of using 2 days when they may use none for a Saturday wedding. They might be stressed after having to cram their work into a short week to make the wedding. Also if they work remotely and choose to work friday, they’ll have worked an entire day and possibly down to the last minute of the workday then be scrambling to get ready before the event if it’s earlier on the evening. Some folks would love a wedding to blow off steam and celebrate after that, others are already mentally fried and that might impact how social and energetic they are at the function.
PROS: a next day BBQ is a great way to extend the festivities and really make the most out of the trip since ultimately they came to see YOU! I also think afternoon BBQs instead of early brunch is a great post wedding event.
Congrats and all the best!
