I thought I will be like the ones in the movies where I am drinking coffee in a paper cup while discussing crimes and walking around every corners checking on something then grabbing my leather jacket and off to the scene. Lol. Now I have belly fat from sitting.
During down time I like to visit the local stores and get to know the store owners. I want to be intentional about being involved in the community that I'm patrolling
the dreaded paperwork...its unreal
It comes with the territory. What people see in the movies is quite different from the actual work because about more than 80 percent of our job involves paperwork.
You could not have described our situation so perfectly. I thought it was a bullet hell fantasy, but it's more like a desk job.
The paperwork... I spent 16 years of my career as an FTO. At some point, report writing became my problem, regardless of the training phase. Earlier this month, one of my recruit officers, now an attorney, honored me by coming to my retirement reception. During phase one of field training, I told him that if something wasn't written in the report, it didn't happen. In his practice, he thinks of what I told him in field training years ago.
Yup it's unreal. It can go from 0 to 1000 extremely quickly. Just from one call and you never know how this one call will turn out
When you get assigned to the desk it's the most dreadful job. You feel like you're on punishment while everyone else is out having fun
Yes! You are so correct about this! A minute before you were in a life-and-death situation. A moment after you're in front of paperwork. Lol
Couldn't agree more. This is so spot on. The paperwork is such a bummer.
