Agree. Would never work there.
Like, I’m always blown away to log on to this bowl and see people treating FAANG like the holy grail for exit opps as if they’re living in a completely separate universe. There’s some moral iffiness to working for the other big techs too but to me there are SOME justifications for Amazon, Google, etc.—whereas with Facebook I just think all pretense is gone at this point. It’s a bad place. Don’t work there.
💯
Also can’t stand Zuckerberg

Good WLB
That being said I'd never join FB
Right! And if anyone is willing to let society burn in exchange for a little money and WLB for themselves, I’m going to judge the hell out of that choice!
Of the FANG, I see Facebook having the largest upside potential in terms of stock appreciation over the next 4 years. I would consider it depending on how much stock they offered to poach me (Product strategy here).
No tech giant is “clean”; Google pretends to be, but it is only able to be choosy because it has monopoly power in multiple areas.
Expecting morality from corporate leaders across America is a fools errand. They will get replaced by whoever maximizes shareholder value. If you’re mad at Facebook, the most effective solution isn’t to not work there, it is to vote for politicians who will reign them in.

Oh yeah, I agree. It’s even more of a pipe dream to assume that by joining them you can try to change it too.

Agreed.
There's so much good I can do in government contracting here that it makes FAANG a questionable exit opportunity for me. All the blurbs on "connecting the world" are culty BS as the polarization of our politics, foreign interference, and gen0cide-enabling hate speech have proven. They claim to be forces shaping the world but there's no directionality to it and there's a heck of a lot of incompetence too.
There are some exceptions, like Microsoft's and Amazon's contracting services have proven but those are exceptions to the rule.

Mark is eventually going to have to say something. It’s not going to work this time

Employees are speaking up though
Facebook holds a mirror to society. People don't like what they see. Changes I would like to see : No political ads 12 months before the election. Everything need to be organic content growth ie no micro targeting for political ads.

Do you think they’ll head that way
I agree from previous convos with employees but did something specifically happen recently?

OP you could probably use that argument for many huge public companies. At some point, folks just need a job that pays
See below reply. Plus, I’d argue the damage Facebook can do to our society vs. Facebook’s actions (or lack thereof) indicating their responsibility to society is out of proportion to anything we are seeing with any other public company.
