As a former underwriter, they can be a pain when reselling or refinancing your home. Please make sure they have a customwr service department you can reach. Get your monthly statements mailed to you. DON'T LOSE THE INITIAL CONTRACT you sign because if you decide to refinance, the UW needs it for the verbiage. And trying to get it from CS dept is a pain.
Would assume that the cloud cover in Charlotte plus the low cost of electricity (hydro is cheap) means they are not economical, but you know, check your own math? Google maps has a solar yield calculator for a specific location.
Bruh if its not raining charlotte normally has 0 clouds. When it does rain it's cloud all day I will admit. But give or take 50% of time there is not a single cloud in the sky.
Do your homework. Good resource for comparing quotes is Energy Sage:

The pros of solar panels are that they are a great way to reduce your carbon footprint, as they produce energy from a renewable source. Also, they can save you on electricity bills over time, as they use the sun's energy to generate electricity. On the con side, they can be costly to install, and you may require a permit to install them in certain areas. Personally, I'm excited to install Tesla solar panels on my detached garage and get an electric car - it'll be great for the environment and help me save money in the long run.
