When I was a loan staff it just meant I worked under the direction/review of a manager at the company for a specific project.
You give staff a loan to jumpstart their carees
You get loaned out to a company for a set period of time and you work for them. Your PA firm usually will ask you to move somewhere when that happens for a set period of time but they’ll cover your housing costs and most of the time even meals.
I would imagine that most loan staff engagements are local, but when I was an associate I was up for a loan staff engagement where I was going to have to move to a different state for 6 months. The firm was going to pay for my hotel and for airfare for me to go back to my apartment every weekend. My B4 firm had an office near the client, but my team wouldn’t send an associate from that office. I was relieved when the client decided not to go through with the engagement.
Would think of it as a "rotation" working in industry. Filling a need for a client while they search for a full time employee for the position or they just need seasonal help. If you get assigned on a LS engagement, make sure your managers are shifting your regular client duties. Would imagine loan staffing is going to be on the rise with all of the moving around everyone is doing.
My company uses loan staff some rn and it basically just means that the B4 person is working for us for now
Do the firms have the capacity to do this right now?
They loan the staff at such a high rate that it’s always useful.
I’ve been loan staffed to two clients. All remote, so didn’t really impact my day to day. Depends how cool the external manager you are reporting to is
