I have been thinking about my financial goals which seem out of reach for the near future and I am having trouble coping with that fact. Is it worth switching professions now? Moved to HCOL so living at home is not a $aving option. Fortunate and grateful that my family has been able to continue to help me financially but I can’t help also feeling bad about it as a working professional. Would really be an improvement to feel financially independent while building equity in my future.

I started a company just under 1 year ago. We sell a product via ecom channels and have done ~100K in revenue with a 60% gross margin.

The first 6 months I was working a full time job. I quit my job to focus on the business full time, and have since depleted my readily available capital. I’m bootstrapping the business with my own funds. I was recently offered a job in my old industry for 80K per year. I was previously making 62K.

Should I take the job?

Is an IPO in anyone’s FIRE strategy? Maybe this is specific to the Bay Area, but it doesn’t seem that unrealistic to negotiate enough equity to make $1.5 mill off an IPO. Or maybe I’m dreaming 😂

I'm almost done with my master's and right now we are discussing the knowledge gap that happens in 4th grade with our lower-class students. They know or have the skills for how to read (for the most part) but seem not to be able to comprehend what they are reading due to the fact that they don't have background knowledge like their upper-class peers - which is due to life experiences. Three members on the team left and the remaining 6 have been told to increase their workload to compensate. The firm will keep their bonus but will share their workload with the existing employees. How can you justify this? Lol. What happens to the unpaid bonus? Rollover to next year?

My utilization is 90% but all of my clients are small jobs. Does that look worse than someone who works on the larger, higher revenue generating jobs with all else equal (utilization/performance)?
