Faced this weird behaviour from Optum recently. Gave interview for Data Scientist position. HR said feedback is positive. Asked for documents. It's been month now since I have shared the documents. I have no update on the offer. Today I called HR, she called me back saying the position is on hold due to recalibration in team, She has shared interview feedbacks to other teams and will get back to me in couple of days. I am clueless now. My last working day is approaching (In a month). Any Help??
Any Liverpool fans here??

I’ve been referred to an ECD by one of their friends three times. Each time, I was given an offer letter within 24 hrs of speaking to the ECD. No other interviews necessary.
Referrals speak volumes, and they’re much better than an interview. People vouching that you are a humble, cool person with a good work ethic and interesting ideas is much more valuable than a 20-min conversation where you’ll be trying to convey just that.
Make strong connections with your current boss. Try and find mentors. If they’re close with other ECDs/CCOs, they’ll help you cut the line time and time again.
In my experience, having this happened before, in most agencies it has to do with if they can make it fit the budget. If they have money, you speak to a hiring manager and they feel you out and an offer comes.
But in my experience, an offer comes quickly and you don’t need to talk to more than 1-2 people
They also might like other folks, you have to work within a team so it’s a good thing for others to speak with potential team members too, there also may be folks on the team ready for promotion. A creative lead isn’t in a silo running their own business, but their vote counts more.
If there’s an open req or a budget line item there shouldn’t be much process. If the person hiring is a good leader, they’ll want to have you vetted by a potential colleague so it doesn’t reek of favoritism but also you should want validation in your decision in case the people you’ll work with aren’t your cup of tea.
I didn’t have to interview or meet with anyone. HR asked for a resume for their files. This was at a big Omnicom agency and they did have need for a producer. But there wasn’t technically an open job. My boss just made some magic happen. Feels crazy now.
If I want you, I get you unless your salary expectations are crazy.
I’m a CCO. If you come to me with a strong recommendation, and I like you, I’ll keep you in mind. But I won’t hire you unless we have an opening. And I won’t force you on a CD. They would need to choose to hire you. It’s not good for you or for them if it’s viewed as a favor to me.
@OP: The only way I can snap my fingers and make a hire happen is if I’ve already received approval from the CFO. My guess is that this is true everywhere.
As an ecd (title above isn’t updated), you prob won’t work directly for me but for one of my CDs. So I send your stuff to the cd and the hiring people with a strong reco.
This happened to me. I just had to tell HR my salary and next thing I knew there was an offer in my inbox.
But then I panicked and realized I didn’t know anything about the job. So I asked to talk with people on the team before I signed. My entire family makes fun of me for asking to be interviewed, but it helped me feel a lot better about the decision.
