Job has up to 80% travel PwC
How is typically life for these positions requiring travel? This is for a SWE position.
Currently work with clients is remote as stated by the recruiter. If work is currently feasible through virtual means, will there be flexibility to choose to travel for this position?
I have an offer with PWC and have a family. I would prefer to be with my family.

Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

Remote 100%. I was able to double my design deliverable output and maintain the same level of quality by having my own creative space to focus in free from water cooler chit chat about the weather. I genuinely do love people and I understand the value of relationships but don’t think frequency of physical presence always builds trust or camaraderie either.
I live 10min from an office but my whole team is in a different city hybrid while I’m 100% remote. It’s really isolating and I would much prefer being hybrid with all of them for the in person “fun stuff” - there are so many free social events, free food, etc and when I have travelled in, the impromptu meetings at the desks added a lot of value. I’ve thought about moving but it’s across countries (Canada to US) and honestly my job is not the most important thing in my life.
Remote
I just don't see a point of going to our office full of people sitting in a single open space constantly talking with someone on Zoom calls
So, there's nothing to do in my company's office - I can imagine that if I'd have an opportunity to go to another office or coworking space, I might change my attitude
Remote! Absolutely, no question.
Hybrid offers only a fraction of the benefits of fully remote work. With remote work, you don't have to relocate for work. Or vice versa, you can relocate to wherever you wish and keep the same job. Or even travel as you work. And of course, it means no time or money wasted commuting.
Remote, but I have been remote for going on 7 years, so I may be biased.
(And I am over 2000KM from my "Office" so the morning commute would suck....)
Have you seen the traffic , are you willing to spend hours of your day in traffic
I am being forced to be in office 2 days in week. I wish I could swap my job with one of you who are on remote role & prefer hybrid. I think majority of us want remote.
I like going into the office when I have a reason to be there. Whether that’s a social event, in person meeting, training, etc. doesn’t matter. What I’ve found is that the need for that is far less than even 2 days a week, so the “forced” model just makes me frustrated and less productive.
Working hybrid 2 days/week is ideal for me, although sometimes i don’t feel like going to office. But working everyday from home is causing me severe depression and anxiety.
100% remote. I can do everything I need to do from home and spent the last couple of years building a home office. I would like to continue to be able to utilize it.
2-3 days a week. I'm a social person and love speaking to people personally.
I prefer remote, but my office is hybrid. I was able to negotiate just coming in once a week. I don’t mind seeing my co-workers, but the commute is awful.
Personally I'm in the office 4-5 days a week and only remote when I have to be (deliveries, etc.). WFH sucks for my mental health, heating bills are extortionate, and I love the social atmosphere of the office.
If I were 30 minutes or less from the office, I'd love 2 days in office. But I'm not. So remote is great.
Assuming the commute is tolerable and the workplace is of actual value, I think hybrid is always the way to go. Two main reasons: job security and mental health. My thinking is that if a job can be done remotely from my apartment in Texas, it can also probably also be done remotely from an apartment halfway around the world for 1/5 the cost. I know consulting firms are already moving on this for clients. Also like the earlier poster said, having an environment and a community in a real place can be a positive influence I think. And despite best efforts, I think there still is a bit of a “decisions are made by those who show up“ element to all of this. I just think you are seen as far more promotable and far more invested if you have a physical presence.
Definitely 100% remote for me, with a flexible schedule throughout the day. The office is far more distracting, even with a busy house at home!
It depends. I LOVE interacting with people in person, so IF others are actually in the office, I'd want to go in on occasion. The org I was with before required people to go in but there was no connectivity so it was pointless.
Now I work on a fully remote team with people all over and I love it but an offsite once a quarter, or even annually, to see people in person would be lovely.
I prefer hybrid, for sure. Google offices are simply too awesome to never set foot in one. I do 0-2 days a week in the office and this makes me happy
remote work all the way. i’m way more productive, i don’t get distracted by things and people around me, i get to be with my pets and wear pajamas.
I like the choice. I drive in most days because there are less distractions at work unless I am sitting in a loud area. So actually the days when my team is not in office I sit in quiet areas and get more done. If I dont get work done it doesn’t go away, I just end up working on the weekend so it is preferable to be able to focus here and there by some office time.
I like the hybrid option but do also like going in to the office as I like seeing other work colleagues.
Working from home 2/3 days is fine as long as it’s not mandated to do 3 days every week.
I’m able to work 100% remote with the option of going in office, which I choose to do 1-2 days a week, mainly to participate in events and hopefully stand out for promotion. I like free lunch and getting out of the house occasionally, but I prefer to work remotely.
