McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.

Hi all, recently in touch by Spotify recruiter for a Sec Engineer position for remote EU and was told that range was 60-80 out of base salary and equity. Had 2 years of security experience out of my 4 years. Was also told that there is no bonus scheme or no sign in bonus 😕 Not sure how I feel about this tbh.
What do you think?

Remote 100%. I was able to double my design deliverable output and maintain the same level of quality by having my own creative space to focus in free from water cooler chit chat about the weather. I genuinely do love people and I understand the value of relationships but don’t think frequency of physical presence always builds trust or camaraderie either.
I live 10min from an office but my whole team is in a different city hybrid while I’m 100% remote. It’s really isolating and I would much prefer being hybrid with all of them for the in person “fun stuff” - there are so many free social events, free food, etc and when I have travelled in, the impromptu meetings at the desks added a lot of value. I’ve thought about moving but it’s across countries (Canada to US) and honestly my job is not the most important thing in my life.
I'm clearly the odd person out, but i prefer hybrid. I'm not required to go in, but I choose to go in 3-4 times a week. Why? Because I live with depression and was finding that by not leaving the house it was have a significant impact on my mental health. I'm in a much better place when I leave the house and have that me time in the car on the commute (my commute is less than 30 minutes). Having the separation helps me out tremendously.
I agree 100%. I do the same. Also because the communication with my colleagues flows much better when we’re in the same physical space.
REMOTE- no amount of free lunch can get me in lol. I save by being remote!!
Second what IBM 1 stated. Remote!!- I don’t need to see my coworkers face to face to get things done.
I don't want to see my coworkers so I'll stick to being remote
😂😂😂😂
If I lived near an office, I'd probably go in a couple days a week, or maybe go in some weeks where action was taking place. Sometimes feel a like connections are harder to make when fully remote, but the whole company is remote, so I love it.
This is the hard one, living close to an office, I took a remote position that is multiple states away from an office. Wouldn’t move for this job but it would be nice to be able to come in and see everyone every once in a while. Catch 22 with that distance though
I’m very fortunate to live 10 mins from the office so my experience differs greatly from everyone else.
I come in from early morning till about noon and then I’m home for the rest of the day. It’s been greatly rewarding as I’ve been able to have the necessary in person meetings I need to then go home for heads down work in the afternoon.
Remote work. If there is an office nearby I am happy to go there occasionally when it’s necessary. I don’t want to be mandated to go there every Monday and Wednesday just because leadership feels like it.
I swore I preferred remote until I started working hybrid for a company with an enjoyable atmosphere. Not joking when I say I didn’t know that actually existed! I work 2-3 days a week in the office and ended up really enjoy them. My last work environment was extremely toxic and negative so it is a genuine pleasure to work somewhere that creates a positive environment. My new company provides periodic food trucks and fun kitchen snacks, my coworkers are pleasant and I actually realized I’m more productive when I have a better work-life balance. Plus I always felt like I never knew where I stood working remotely - I get the validation from directly seeing how myself and my work are perceived by everyone.
Remote all the way!
I currently work 100% remote but wished it was 40/60 home to in-person. To me that seems most ideal.
Remote, then free to choose whenever you want to come and go to the office
Remote with occasional travel to take advantage of in person time. I personally hate hybrid and feel that if anyone is remote, you all need to act like you’re remote anyway, so I don’t see the point of having a less pleasant/convenient work environment by going into the office if most of the people I work with aren’t going to be there.
And even if everyone being there full time we’re an option again, it doesn’t feel like we need that much time together to bond and be effective.
Remote work. I'll come in when needed like for clients appearances and monthly team meetings. But there needs to be a reason for me to commute in and spend money coming into the office. Not just because
hybrid. but 2 days only maybe. is good to hangout with co-workers and see people. we are humans after all, is healthy, however, if you already see other people out of work, and frequent coworkers from time a time, I'd go for remote. time flexibility is gold to me.
Hybrid, my office is mostly remote and I find it makes my job and collaboration a lot more difficult than it would be in person. We’re about as good as it gets in terms of remote communication and it still doesn’t compare to in person. Plus I need the social interaction to feel a connection to the company, and there’s loads of good research now showing how remote work makes innovation, brainstorming, collaboration, feedback, mentorship and connection more difficult.
I think it’s good to have some days remote to focus heads down on personal output and other days in person for the other stuff
I found that going in 2-3 days a week is ideal.
Most of the senior managers including my boss are in pretty much every day, so it's good to connect with them, and meet up with other people and have those sorts of random water cooler encounters. It humanizes people who otherwise are floating heads on Teams.
Also, I've found that working from home for too long can make it feel like I'm living at work, and going into the office a few times a week makes me feel more balanced. It's also too easy sometimes to feel like I'm responsible for everything when I'm just alone at home and constantly responding to requests.
Finally, it gives some distance between my wife and I so we're not in each others business constantly.
I love working from home and can’t imagine being forced into an office and commute. I love the flexibility and I love that I get to choose when or if I even wanna go to the office.
I would prefer to remain remote, it’s so much more productive, cost-saving, and enjoyable for me.
Remote because I live +400km from the office 🤣
