I seem to have struck a nerve I see
It's possible, but it'll most likely make you miserable. My wife and I were in this position when our daughter was born. We ended up starting her in day care at around the 7 month mark. It's really, really hard to get anything done with a baby at home. And the time you get with them you tell yourself justifies it really isn't all that enjoyable during the first year. I wish I hadn't had to do it all the same, but I know it was the right thing for all of us. Plus it made it so much easier for our daughter to adjust to kindergarten compared to our friends' kids who stayed home the first few years. When they get in the habit of being around teachers early, going to "real" school isn't nearly as daunting for them.

The only chance: The parents of the parents.
I have seen people make it work, but I truly don't know how. I feel like you have to have completely opposite schedules so that one person is free at all times. I have seen people's work suffer because they think they can take care of their child and work, and it just doesn't work out well.
