Quick poll: does your firm require you to use the corporate Amex during business travel? EY = yes... missing out on the bonus points from the hotel CC's.

A1- No... I use personal for all my hotels

like

Yes D does

At PWC you can enroll in the AMEX rewards program and at least get a point per dollar spent

like

All of the major firms require you to use the corporate card. It makes it easier for them to track expenses.

like

There are folks at the firm who use a personal card, but it's explicitly written in the policy & we have required training on the topic so it's not worth the risk IMO.

like

At Accenture we just have to use the corporate Amex for flights. We're supposed to use it for all other expenses but I've never heard of this being enforced

like

FYI to those who didn't know. A reason the firm forces us to use corp amex is because they get a kickback from Amex for forcing us to use the card. Its a percentage of all transactions and both provides a small amount of revenue and reduces operational risk

like

Damn that sucks. We can use whatever for hotel but flights get booked and paid through concur with us.

Yes

K - feeling better that EY isn't the only firm

PwC too, all work expenses (hotel, travel, food) go on Corp Amex

Thanks homies

Everyone does. Are you new in consulting?

P3 - yeah that's the best way to double up on points. KPMG 1 - no, but it's a new'ish policy for EY within the last 2-3 years.

A2, you may choose whatever credit card you want to use at hotel, but policy states Amex. Whether you choose to follow policy is up to you, and not my problem.

AFS can use whatever they want

At Capgemini it's written policy to use the corp Amex but it just depends on the project and the project manager. Feel like that'd be the same for every company.

A1- eh I was told by HR during orientation on the first day that you don't need to even get the corporate Amex A3- we don't use it for flights either, flights require WBS codes

After I hit the spend bonuses on all the major cards in the first year or so on the job I quit bothering. Corp Amex is just easier.

OP - it has been policy for 5+ years (since I joined)...followed by practitioners to varying degrees.

Quick scenario: If I have a consulting offer from a different Big 4 that has a start date post-10/15, so that in theory I would not have to submit a 2 weeks notice until post-10/1 (bonus payout date) but I sign the offer pre-9/30, am I obligated (looking for both legal & professional standpoint) to tell PwC because it is with a competitor? This is essentially the exact same group at the other big 4

I've been out of accounting for about 2 years because I decided to move to another country for life experiences. I will be moving back mid 2022 with my fiance and will go back to Audit most likely. My firm said they would gladly take me back when I left. If i was making 65k as a senior 2 years ago is it reasonable to ask for 72k and a 10k signing bonus even with a 2 year break? Would it be more reasonable if I went to a different firm instead? How much do you think is reasonable?

EY to BCG Less than 2 YOE i.e around 1.8 years. Recruiter mentioned a base of 100k and 10% bonus. Would BCG be open to negotiation if I get the offer? I’ll be a senior consultant in 2022 at EY and will probably have a way higher base. I think around 110/120

PwC background check: it asks for convictions in the last 7 years. I disclosed my conviction (wreckless endangerment) but not an arrest for public intoxication because it was dismissed. The BGC specifically asks for convictions and the required details to submit very much pertain to convictions. The wording and the level of required detail that just doesn’t apply to an arrest makes me think I’d be okay… Has anyone not disclosed an arrest and had it be an issue for PwC?
