He posted about a few jobs he is recruiting for and included a description of the type of candidate the firms are looking for. I thought that the roles sounded up my alley, and that I matched the description, so I reached out to him and asked to connect. All I got was a very curt one-line response saying my profile wouldn’t be a good fit. Is it worth asking why? Is this a normal response?

I have an offer for $130k for a senior attorney position in a boutique L&E firm. Also have a recruiter who thinks she can get me into another for $150-170k. Both are more than I’ve ever made (Denver, 17 yrs of experience but completely different practice areas). Any tips for countering the $130k offer for more using the other potential offer while not risking a complete withdrawal of the current offer? I’ve never been in a position to bargain my starting salary so this is all very new to me.

Entering my 2nd year as a medical malpractice (insurance) defense litigator. My billables are 2200 per year, even during WFH and COVID while the courts are moving very slowly. Any advice as to what I should look into for an exit? I can’t hit those billables while maintaining my sanity.
