Where's the new Mumbai office going to be?
Tops? Message me, I’m free this weekend lawlz

When negotiating Salary, do you mention Glassdoor, Levels.fyi, or a separate source? Or neither?? Looking at a role I’m currently a candidate for and the discrepancy of pay between Glassdoor and Levels.fyi is absurd (IE Glassdoor average salary is almost 40K higher than Levels.fyi) Glassdoor also has more “data points”, for lack of a better term, than Levels.fyi for this role.
Thoughts??

Agree with ⬆️. Wouldn't expect termination on first notice. Wouldn't be ethical but then again it is Big 4. Like someone said earlier, be prepared to defend yourself/present your case -- that is if you think it's worth "fighting" for your job. Working in public accounting is overrated. Yes it's good experience but you can get on another career path without big 4 experience and fare extremely well. Time is worth much more than money. All big 4 does is rob people of time in exchange for hubris and sense of being elitist. No use being a pretentious douche. See it as a blessing. Get out, get unemployment, take a vacation on a beach somewhere (summer is almost here), read a good book and open your heart and mind. Stray away from the mouse wheel everyone else is running on. Once you do all that start your job search.
How did you think you did? Maybe they're just wanting to talk about that bad review. You would probably be able to answer that question on your own knowing how you've done thus far.
Hear your side of what? Did something happen that led up to this? Were you constantly missing deadlines or producing lackluster work? I guess I'm confused as to what your situation is. I'm a first year too, but I at least know whether or not I performed well or not. You should've been in constant communication with the people reviewing you all year long, especially with our new review system we have now.
I honestly think it could go either way. My concern is the talent partner himself wanting to speak with me. I feel like they only call in the partners when it's time to cut people. I'm a 1st year so I honestly wouldn't know. I know my senior manager completely butchered me during my last snapshot. 2 of 3 she gave me an average rating and the last one, she put me "at risk".
I think it would be rare for them to fire you without first talking about an improvement plan. I would prepare for the meeting by taking an honest look at strengths/weaknesses and be ready to talk about how you plan to address any weaknesses and improve. Demonstrating a positive attitude and being willing to work hard will go a long way.
If there are other people in the room who you don't work with when you get there it's all over for you. If you do get let go, it is not the end of the world, it just provides you an opportunity to find a better job. This happened to a friend of mine and he pretty much tripled his salary. Sometimes I wish I'd been forced to find a better job too. Let us know what happens. When is it?
Commenting on here so I know when you update us.
Have you been spoken to about poor performance before? If not, then I would think they'd give you at least an improvement plan. Hope it goes your way.
Thanks for all the advice guys/gals, it is very much appreciated. I'll be sure to update this post after my meeting tomorrow morning.
Sucks having things still up in the air, OP. Sorry that you need to contend with this. Keep staying positive - everything will work out.
I would suggest preparing your case. Basically, be ready for either or direction and be able to stand your ground. Know your strengths in your performance. Good luck and keep us posted.
Yeah I would agree with PWC2. The firm usually wants to do everything but fire people unless an individual is really underperforming and hasn't improved after being put on an improvement plan. Go in prepared for either route like everyone said and be professional regardless of the outcome.
The meeting is scheduled for Thursday 4/21. Original email was received Tuesday 4/19.
Just stay positive and prepare like others have said, if you value your job make sure you say something about this being a learning experience and how you'll grow from it
Good luck - it'll work out ok.
Good luck! Not sure what office you are out of but I know the smaller D&T offices tend to have talent partners get involved in helping with due diligence. I'm sure it's just to make sure you're committed and hear both sides of the story
So I didn't end up getting fired. Partner wanted to hear my side of the story and brought in another admin to inquire about what happened. I asked what the next step is, they said they didn't know. Also asked if I was getting laid off, admin said they were gathering the facts and nothing has been decided. I still kinda feel like I'm going to get fired.
Sounds like there was a tangible incident from what you posted. Is this general performance related or specific incident related?
It was a bad snapshot review. My side of what happened to the engagement. Received 2 good snapshots from that same person and the last one they gave me, I was slaughtered.
