Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.
I was just offered a CUNY role. The title is Higher Education Assistant. According to Glassdoor, the average annual pay for that role is $83,418. However, I was offered $62,500. I requested for the minimum annual salary to be 75k. Does anyone have experience navigating the CUNY system and their pay?

By the sounds of things you're in the mid-range (so as high as they will normally start people at) and you are new to the industry (so no real special leverage).
Personally, I wouldn't counter since they could pull the offer. If you choose to take the risk, I would keep it minimal. Your already in a good spot.
Thank you. I agree, considering everything it's a good offer. Her team team leader advised me that i should negotiate. However, he was unaware of what her offer would be.
Always negotiate. I wouldn’t go in and ask for 75k but ask for something like $25/hour.99% of companies are not going to pull the offer if you try and negotiate they will counter or say no. No harm no foul.
I used to think that was the rule but more and more you were seeing people lose jobs when they negotiate. There are just too many people who are standing inline for them.
