I have a friend going through this exact thing and she had a meeting with the CEO and they were willing to hear her out. It was pretty clear she was being targeted by her direct supervisor. It sucks that they didn't try to intervene or have a conversation with you about what possibly went wrong.
Sorry to hear it. Sometimes it’s hard to say what was going on when all you saw were the good things. My assumption is a communication problem with who you reported to. They should have been more transparent about what wasn’t working.
i was in the same boat, got kudos from everyone and was let go for not being a good fit. my manager wasnt even in the same state as mine. she wasnt a good manager.
I am so sorry to hear that. It sounds like you were doing a great job but for some reason your manager had an issue with it. Have you tried talking to HR or the CEO to gain more perspective on why you were let go?
I had a similar thing with a company a few years back. I was dismissed for "gross misconduct" by said company. No notice, no disiplinary, nothing. And all the charges were fake.
I had a grievance with the company at the time. They had a sales commission scheme in place, whereby I got a nice bit of money everytime I made a sale to a new customer. I got so good at what I did that I earnt my take home wage again, just in sales commission.
They were trying to get out of paying me said commission. And I wouldnt let them. So much so it was rapidly escalating towards a court case for breach of contract.
Then as I say, all of a sudden I was dismissed. Now some people wonder why I dislike bosses...........................
I have had the most rotten luck with my past few administrative roles. The last job I had stopped training after 3 weeks. Training was very sporadic. The job before that was okay but very toxic work environment. It gets very discouraging and my confidence did go down a lot.
Sounds like your Direct Report wanted someone else for your job and got overruled.
Based on what you say, this has nothing to do with your personality or performance. There was nothing you could have done to make that work.
Another employer is going to appreciate your initiative and energy. It may not feel like it, but this was a blessing in disguise. That Direct Report would have made your job miserable if you'd stayed there. Try to see it in that light and be encouraged.
