I am not sure about riskiest but I took a size-able paycut to join Deloitte and it was the best decision I ever made. Of course many years later I have more than regained what I walked away from. I am so happy and it is best place I have ever worked by leaps and bounds
Love it
Taking a risk moving from US to Canada with a major pay cut for better security, no visa issues, and spending more time with family. Hopefully, it pays off!
EY2 - what's changed if you're back? You're still on a visa and temporary?
Remember peeps, people are likely to post here only if their move paid off. Don’t get encouraged and storm out of work today 😂
Divorcing husband and taking 50% of his wealth
Paying off
I don’t see the risk here?
Quit my first job with out a job lined up, couldn’t deal with a horrible boss.
Went to work for a competitor a week later with a major jump in salary.
I’d say it paid off.
Started my own business. Could not have been a better decision and absolutely paid off.
Ecommerce. Had no skill set to speak of, just taught myself everything from reading online!
Left my job in 2011, what was still a very fragile an employment market. Went back to grad school, and doubled the salary afterwards. I think it paid off.
Literally.
My two riskiest moves involved going back to school at 34 and taking a consulting job. The first was a success, the second complete failure. I work in tech consulting and have loved my projects. However, the consulting life and attitude runs me the wrong way. Hitting the bench on Monday and I already have some things lined up. Live, learn, and grow!
Thanks all!
Moved to the US from India, along with then-bf-now-husband, for our respective MBAs. Didn't have any savings, relied heavily on student loans and the prospect of summer internships to get us through. Paid off in spades.
I love it, love it, love it ❤️
Left a stupidly boring fortune 100 company for a tiny consulting firm doing interesting work for a pay cut. Got fired. Got picked up by a different form, then got recruited by Accenture.
No regrets. Learned a ton from that experience.
Left my job with 9 months left to file my GC. Big risk of flying back to my home country, still
Made the move and it paid-off.
Sketching from IT implementation to strategy. TBD
Was it tough?
My risky pings always pay off!
Always?
Lol, by definition it would be far from always
Haven’t started yet! Next month transition takes place
