Anyone make the jump from aerospace and defense to consulting? I have offers from EY (Industry 4.0/digital), Alvarez and Marsal (PEPI), as well as West Monroe Partners (Digital). I'm a Sr Manager with 10YOE in industry. Does it make sense to jump ship to consulting as a Senior Associate or Manager?
A previous employer reached out and offered me a Senior Product Designer role with a 40% increase base salary. I am considering this, as I have been feeling under utilized at my current role + dealing with of uncertainty lately. But I would be forfeiting a lot of RSUs if I leave. I am in the middle of my vesting period (2/4 yrs), and this year alone would have 256 shares vesting (~$500 share price). The new role will come with shares, but at a small share price. Anyone had similar experience?
I need help making up my mind on where to attend.
So I have two offers on the table : Tuck vs Yale SOM. I am getting 40k scholarship from Tuck and nothing from Yale.
I'm planning on going into consulting afterwards and am not sure what school to attend. I know Tuck's group oriented teaching is slightly more geared towards consulting.
What has been making me hesitate is the global presence of what Yale has in its name.
Would you say Yale has almost equal chance of getting into MBB as Tuck?
A family member is considering move from overseas. The couple are both actuaries. Any one know / provide indicative salaries for actuaries in Syd ? Both have about 10 years of experience in insurance industry…
How long do you have to do interventions before moving to an spec Ed evaluation (on an initial)? And, who collects that data?
Good morning and happy hump day everyone 😃. This is your morning DJ spinning the tunes 🎶 to get you movin and groovin through your day. Today’s blast from the past has hits like, “And the Beat Goes On, Rock Steady, Lady and Olivia.” I have had the pleasure of seeing these guys in concert many times and what a show. Enjoy, stay safe, hydrated and have a blessed day. Please put your hands together 👏 and show your love for the incomparable;
Question about paying off a car vs. financing - I'm 23 and have no debt (hence why I'm a little afraid of taking it on). I thought the best move would be to save up cash and pay off in full, so I have about $30K saved up but now I'm reading that maybe it would be better to put down a down payment and finance the car instead. Thoughts?
Knowing your work-life balance now/happiness, if you could go back to when you started, what would you honestly say to yourself? Persevere or quit?
Anyone technical guy with merchant QR experience looking for change? There is a requirement in Bajaj Finserv, exp 10-15 yrs. Attractive salary.
My mom's bday is coming up and I want to gift her a nice watch. I'm thinking of something around $3k to $5k. What would be a good option and should I try to go for a Rolex? She is not a consultant btw
I just found out my first love is getting married next month. It’s been several years since we broke up and I am engaged to be married as well. I can’t stop feeling sad and upset bc I know once he gets married it’ll really be like we never happened and that part of our life never existed. How can I stop being sad ?

Having 10lpa with TCS, what is the maximum I can ask in Infosys?

What's a better word than curate, but means you want to someone to take control of their experience.

DUDES. I was venting about a dumb basic slideshow I need to do by tomorrow morning because the client doesn’t know what risks/ICs are, and then need to build a specific template. My 7yo was like, let me help!! (Zoom in, it’s all her work) 😂
I want to get a small-ish gift for a partner who has opened up a ton of insane opportunities for me this year. I was thinking a bottle of wine with a card, but that seems a little generic... Any other ideas?
4 years at MBB, 3 years at FAANG, looking to join VC fund as principal+ Do you know someone who’s done this? What’s your advice on networking with funds, startups, incubators, etc?
How to stay motivated while looking for my exit?
I don't want MBB here anymore. I'm too jelly every time I read them posts. I'd rather wallow in my ignorant bliss.
Since you guys travel all the time, question: I’m going to be flying United this week. I’m bringing 1 carry on duffel bag, and a suit in a dry cleaner bag. Can I also bring a laptop bag with me?
What $$ amount would you want/need in order to leave a firm gig with benefits to be an independent contractor?
Has anyone gotten a TN Visa recently? Wondering if I'll be able to get back in the US if I go out. Did you drive or fly?
How hard is the AWS solutions architect associate exam? I’ve done the Azure fundamentals cert so I have an understanding of general cloud concepts. Just trying to figure out if I would need to take the AWS cloud practitioner exam (which sounds like it would be very similar to azure fundamentals) before doing the solutions architect test or not
Brown 🐬 here. The analyst (white, F) on the project asks me if we have cars in India. And she was, by no means, joking. #smh
SO thinks the best time to move to tech will be during a recession. Reasoning being more RSUs when tech stocks are taking a beating. They are in cloud and believe cloud migration, dig. strategy projects won't be impacted as in layoffs.
Anyone else believe the same or see a hole in their argument?
Top 5 public university undergrad but gpa between 3.0-3.2. Promoted two times up to manager in 4 years at a top 10 consulting firm in my industry. If gmat is good can I get into top 10 MBA?
Anybody’s PERM affected by layoffs? Been stuck in the ad/recruitment phase. They are still “wrapping it up”.
Offers from Strategy& (Enterprise Growth, SA3) and EYP (TRS, Director). Strategy& comp is a bit lower for first year, but likely better after that with the bonus structure. Anyone have thoughts on WLB and quality of people/teams? Who should I go with?
Have new analyst on the team with an MBA and project experience. After working with them for 2 months it’s apparent that there are 0 consulting skills (excel, outlook, PowerPoint) and they freeze up even on internal calls. They are young and coachable, and I offered to put time into that. However at a company event they made no effort to get to know the team and chose to stick to their familiar colleagues in their home office. I’d like to ask for a new resource but interested in feedback.
AC is broken on my 7hr flight.... #FML
Does EY reimburse business periodicals that are related to your line of work? Would it fall under the “education” bucket that can be approved as long as you get PPED approval if it is less then $250?

I did this jump a little over 10 years ago. I made the mistake of leaning on my tech experience for a quicker exit which led me to get stuck working for outsourcing firms like Accenture and IBM. Lean on your industry experience instead when exiting. Of the offers you have A&M would be the only one I’d consider. If you still have a clearance, why not try Microsoft Services, GCP CE, or AWS Pro Serve? Pay packs are way better than Consulting especially for cleared people.
Oh nice I had no idea
A&M PEPI will likely be your best bet (had offers between Big4 and Aerospace)
I worked at P&W several years ago but made the switch via b school.
Of the offers you have I think A&M is the best one although I personally wouldn't work there.... Just don't like the type of work they do and didn't like the people when I recruited with them during my MBA.
Lol, we are very certainly not an outsourcing firm. Interim roles that our people take on are almost exclusively at the C-level within our clients, and typically when those clients are under duress or amidst significant transformation. The most famous example of this would of course be when Tony Alvarez (founder and co-CEO) took over as interim CEO of Lehman Brothers and led them throughout the largest bankruptcy in the history of the American economy.
Made the jump from Lockheed to EYP. I’m not sure a SM to SA would really be worth it but definitely more growth in consulting. The jump to manager will probably be difficult because my experience in consulting has been much more intense then my time in industry
Assuming the A&M PEPI position is to specialize in the A&D vertical?
I’m at A&M and I’m not in that vertical but spent considerable time at a competitor to P&W before coming to A&M. Feel free to DM me
A&M PEPI is where I would go. I have a friend there and he loves it
Pay, career trajectory, industry alignment.
I would love to pivot to PW, want to trade? I’m not another random wanting to jump out of consulting and would gladly work the company that made the JT8D and JT9D. ✈️ ❤️
