I'm working on skills to reposition myself from a branch of tech where certifications are mandatory and required to even interview into DevOps or software development. I'm currently taking some online classes in Jenkins, docker, python. I've found a few certifications you can test for. I'd love to be able to go into a mid level position vs Jr in the next few years. Curious what’s a fair salary in MA? Was just told that there is likely not going to be a chance for a raise during my upcoming performance review due to my salary already being “above average for the industry” based on my employer’s questionable research. I’ve been with the company 8.5 years & am the only one in my role, which they can’t operate without. I execute tasks from two investment advisors and two financial planners - they make the decisions of what should happen & I make it happen.

Today I learned a new thing. One candidate was referred by a colleague of mine in the system. He got selected and offer letter rolled out.

When he checked the system he realized the referral was not taken and the background system captured it as direct hire.

So my friend is not going to get any referral incentive.

I currently work as an APM at a FAANG company but recently received an offer to join an MBB. I’m very excited about the role but didn’t realize I’d need to take a pay cut when I applied (~100k base + ~20k bonus + ~60k equity vs. 90k base + 10-20k bonus). Considering that I currently work 40-60 hours/week, I’ll be making significantly less per hour at the MBB. I’m very interested in the opportunity but also don’t want to make a poor financial decision early in my career. Thank you for your time!
