I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group

Underpaid.
Underpaid but what do you charge hourly? I always heard rule of thumb for smaller firms is your salary should be 1/3rd of your yearly billable.
Second C1’s advice. Your base is probably about right based on your rate and 1800-1900 hour expectation, and your bonus should be the true up that gets you to 1/3 all in. Discounts are common and probably driving your rate lower than $400, so when you factor in less than 100% collections too, you’re probably being paid appropriately. Sounds like you might want to lateral to a firm with bigger clients willing to pay higher rates.
This is underpaid for even a boutique lifestyle firm at 1600 hours in L.A. Sometimes these smaller firms don’t grow their salaries competitively and don’t find out until their most loyal ones leave. I would take a look around and speak to some recruiters.
Commercial litigation in a major market should be charging waay higher per hour. I’d change firms.
Market rate for a 5th year associate in Chicago is 330k base with 30% bonus for a total comp of 430k. With your years of experience …. should be around this if not higher, factoring in a discount for being at a smaller firm.
